About Me

Jeff, Gardener in Chief

Contrary to popular opinion, some people in the Hamptons enjoy getting their hands dirty. I'm a self-taught gardener in East Hampton, NY that enjoys sharing my gardening experiences and inspiration with others. Hope you enjoy my blog and galleries.

Winter Clean-up

The weather turned warm this weekend so we started cleaning up debris that had accumulated over the winter months. Also started some of the late winter pruning before plants start leafing out.  Can't wait for spring and planting time.

Not sure which variety of honeysuckle this is, but it put on a big show this June without a lot of sun. It makes a nice addition to bouquets. Too bad it blooms primarily in early summer.

Oehme Van Sweden Garden

This garden, designed by James Van Sweden and Wolfgang Oehme, was part of an ARF garden tour in East Hampton this past weekend. It surrounds a beautiful modern home. The garden is typical of the Oehme van Sweden style with bold, sweeping beds of grasses and perennials. Dramatic, yet simple and soothing. Perfect background for this modern rock and cedar clad house. In bloom at the time was Salvia 'Walker's Low'.
